SBI PO 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Those who are in the Final Year/ Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for an interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31.12.2023. Candidates having an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31.12.2023. Candidates possessing qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, etc. would also be eligible.

Age limit

  • Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as of 01.04.2023 i.e. candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.2002 and not earlier than 02.04.1993 (both days inclusive).

Application Fee

  • Candidates belonging to the General/ EWS/ OBC categories will have to pay Rs 750 and ‘Nil’ for SC/ ST/ PwBD candidates. Application Fee once paid will NOT be refunded nor can it be held in reserve for any other exam or selection.

SBI PO 2023 Exam Pattern

  • The SBI PO selection process consists of 3 stages. The written examinations are conducted online, followed by an interview round. The structure of exams is as follows:

Phase-1: SBI PO Preliminary Examination

  • This is an online examination where the candidates must solve the question paper in one 1 hour for 100 marks. A negative mark of ¼ marks for each incorrect answer will be applicable. The test consists of 3 sections. Candidates must know that the sectional cut-off in the Preliminary Exam has been removed and the overall score of all the sections will be considered for selection to the next round. The cut-off or minimum passing marks for each section is decided by the Bank each year depending on the difficulty of the test. The section-wise division of the marks is given below:
    • English Language:
      • Questions – 30
      • Maximum Marks – 30
      • Duration – 20 Minutes
    • Numerical Ability:
      • Questions – 35
      • Maximum Marks – 35
      • Duration – 20 Minutes
    • Reasoning Ability:
      • Questions – 35
      • Maximum Marks – 35
      • Duration – 20 Minutes
    • Total
      • Questions – 100
      • Maximum Marks – 100
      • Duration – 1 Hour

Phase-2: SBI PO Mains Examination

  • The main Examination will be conducted online and will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Tests for 50 marks. The Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after the conclusion of the Objective Test and candidates will have to type their Descriptive Test answers on the computer.
  • (i) Objective Test: The duration of the objective test is 3 hours, and it consists of 4 Sections of a total of 200 marks. There will be separate timing for every section.

      • Duration – 50 Minutes
    • Data Analysis & Interpretation:
      • Questions – 30

      • Duration – 45 Minutes
    • General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness:

    • English Language:
      • Questions – 35

  • (ii) Descriptive Paper:
    • English Language (Letter Writing & Essay):
      • Questions – 2
      • Maximum Marks – 50
      • Duration – 30 Minutes
  • Penalty for Wrong Answers (Applicable to both – Preliminary & Main Examination): There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked in Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as a penalty to arrive at a corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

Phase-3: SBI PO (i) Psychometric Test (ii) GROUP EXERCISE & (iii) INTERVIEW

  • Category-wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in Phase II (Main Exam). There will be no sectional cut-off. Candidates numbering up to 3 times (approx.) of the category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted for Phase-III from the top of the category-wise merit list subject to a candidate scoring the minimum aggregate qualifying score, as decided by the Bank. Phase-III Comprise of (i) Psychometric Test (ii) GROUP EXERCISE & (iii) INTERVIEW.
    • Psychometric Test: The Bank will conduct a Psychometric test for personality profiling, of those candidates who will be shortlisted for PhaseIII. Findings of the test may be placed before the Interview panel to have a thorough perspective on the candidates.
      • Test Structure
        • Group Exercise – 20 (Maximum Marks)
        • Interview – 30 (Maximum Marks)
        • Total – 50 (Maximum Marks)

SBI PO Final Selection:

  • The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase II and Phase III separately. The marks obtained in the Main Examination (Phase II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in Phase III for preparing the final merit list. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added to preparing the final merit list for selection.
  • The marks obtained by the candidates in Phase-II (Main Examination both Objective & Descriptive Tests) and Phase-III (Group Exercise & Interview) will be normalized to 100 marks as detailed below:
    • Test Name:

      • Group Exercise & Interview – 50(Maximum Marks) | 25 (Normalized Marks)
      • Total – 300 (Maximum Marks) | 100 (Normalized Marks)
  • The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating (out of 100) converted marks of Phase II and Phase III. Selection will be made from the top merit-ranked candidates in each category.
