Expressways and highways are constantly being prepared in the country. A lot of highway work is going on. The government has launched a free-to-use navigation app 'MOVE' to protect people driving on express or public roads. This app will alert users to the risk of accidents. The app also has many safety features along with navigation.

The app was developed by MoRTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways). The app has been launched in collaboration with IIT Madras and digital tech company MapmyIndia.

Will provide breakers, turn, and pit information
The navigation app provides voice and visual alerts about other hazards such as the upcoming accident-prone zone, speed breaker, turn, and pit. The app has been launched by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to reduce accidental deaths.
IIT Madras will do data analysis
This app from MapmyIndia won the Government Self-Employed App Innovation Challenge in 2020. The app includes accidents, unsafe roads, traffic reports, and broadcasts. The data will be analyzed by IIT Madras and MapmyIndia. The government will renovate roads, including highways, based on the app's data.
Use of IIT safety model
The Ministry of Roads and Transport last month adopted a data-driven road safety model developed by IIT Madras researchers with World Bank funding. More than 32 states and union territories will use the model to make roads safer and improve emergency response.
The IIT team has entered into agreements with different state governments to reduce road accident deaths by 50% and target 0 deaths from road traffic accidents by 2030. A roadmap will be prepared for it.
