The Aadhaar card is an important document issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The card is used to take advantage of government schemes run by the Central and State Governments ranging from the admission of children in schools. Aadhaar has a user's demographic and biometric information registered. Each cardholder is also given a unique number. That's why Aadhaar is so important that it needs to be registered with correct and updated details.

UIDAI does not charge for updating some information in the Aadhaar card which means that this information is updated absolutely free of cost. Also, money is charged for some services. UIDAI has informed by tweeting which services are free and which services are to be paid for.

According to UIDAI, Aadhaar registration is absolutely free. At the same time, the required biometric update is also free. You will have to pay a charge of Rs 100 to get the biometric updated. Also, if you change only the demographic details, you will have to pay only Rs 50 for it. You can call the toll free number 1947 if someone asks for money for a free service or charges more than the prescribed amount.
