How to use Digi Locker for documents step by step
In 2018, the government issued an advisory stating that saving driving license and vehicle registration in DigiLocker or mPrivahan app will be considered as basic.
Suppose you are driving without vehicle documents and a driving license and you are stopped by traffic police. The traffic police asked you to show the original copy of the documents, but what would you do if you forgot it at home?
In this situation, you do not need to panic. You can also have a driving license on your smartphone. Its validity is the same as that of the original document, but for this, you need to have the Digilocker app.
How to save your driving license in Digilocker on your smartphone
- First of all, download the Digilocker app from Play Store or click on its website digilocker.gov.in.
- Sign up for DigiLocker using your phone number and Aadhaar card.
- Then sign up with your username and 6-digit PIN.
- You will get OTP (Time Password) on your registered phone.
- Now after signing in, click on the Get Issued Documents button.
- Now click on the 'Driving License' button in the search bar.
- In this, you select the state in which you have a driving license. However, you can also choose All-State.
- Enter your driving license number and click on the get document button.
- Digilocker will now get your driving license from the Transport Department.
- Then you can see the driving license by going to the issued document list.
- A soft copy of the driving license can also be downloaded by clicking on the PDF button.

Let's start with simple things
Driving license and RC valid on Digi Locker
The government has made a provision for people to get their driving license and registration certificate (RC) through the DigiLocker app from the concerned DTO or issuing authority. Verified documents in DigiLocker can be used in place of the original driving license and registration certificate.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued RT-11036/64/2017 / MV a notification that driving license, registration certificate, or any other document prepared in the DigiLocker app or mParivahan app is legal and on par with the original documents Is in form. Will be recognized As per the Information Technology Act, of 2000.
These documents can also be shared through the app if needed. The QR code present on the document can also be used to check the authenticity of the document.

Valid identity proof in trains
The Railway Ministry has confirmed in Commercial Circular No. 33 of 2018 that the Aadhaar card and driving license will be treated as valid proof of identity from the "Issued Documents" section by logging on to the DigiLocker app.
It is also worth noting that if the above documents are in the "Uploaded Documents" section, they will not be considered valid proof of identity.
Get a digitally issued educational certificate

The e-sign facility can be useful for self-verification, income tax e-filing, opening an account in banks, application for vehicle registration or driving license renewal, admission in educational institutions, etc.
